Analytics dashboard with real-time data visualization and predictive insights.
Enterprise analytics tools were powerful but overwhelming — key insights were buried under layers of configuration and noise.
We interviewed 12 enterprise analysts and observed their daily workflows to understand where existing tools fell short.
“I spend more time configuring dashboards than actually analyzing data.”
“By the time I find the insight, the meeting is already over.”
Quick insights, executive summaries, trend alerts
Deep drill-downs, custom queries, export capabilities
Team metrics, shared dashboards, scheduled reports
Designed a progressive disclosure interface that surfaces the most critical metrics first, with drill-down capabilities that reveal deeper patterns on demand.
Users were overwhelmed by dense dashboards. We designed a layered approach: surface critical metrics first, with drill-down for depth. This reduced cognitive load while preserving power-user capabilities.
Instead of constant live updates that create anxiety, we used a calm notification system with configurable thresholds. Data refreshes silently unless a metric crosses a user-defined alert boundary.
Meridian was adopted by pilot customers within 2 weeks of launch, with dashboard engagement increasing 3x compared to the previous tool.
The biggest design win was removing features, not adding them. The initial prototype had 40+ configurable widgets — the shipped version has 8 that cover 95% of use cases.
Real-time doesn't mean constant updates. Users needed calm technology — data that's fresh but not distracting.
Progressive disclosure only works when the first layer is genuinely useful. We spent 60% of design time on the default view.
